Mini Makeup Haul

Hello again!

I popped into Priceline today and picked up three new makeup bits, so here's a mini haul.

I bought:
Maybelline Master Shape Eyebrow Pencil in Soft Brown
L'Oreal Miss Manga Mega Volume Mascara in Black
Maybelline Master Graphic Liquid Marker Eyeliner

First Impressions:
  • I think the eyebrow pencil is nice and soft, a lot softer than any I've used so far. Hopefully it's the right colour.
  • I normally buy waterproof mascara, but this one was too cool to pass up. They had three really cool colours, I remember one was purple and one was blue, I don't recall the third one, but I thought I was stick to black. The brush seems pretty weird, and I don't like bend brushes, but I'll see if this one works for me and I'll keep you guys updated.
  • I have heard so much about this eyeliner and seen a lot of tutorials, it doesn't seem very pigmented but the way it's been designed with the triangular tip is interesting. I ran out of eyeliner and thought I needed to give this a try.

I'll keep you guys updated on these items and who knows, maybe they'll pop up in a monthly favourites!

Products I Don't Like #1

Hello there!

I'm back! Did you miss me? Today I thought I'd do something I haven't really done before. I feel as though most of the reviews I do on this blog are positive, so I thought I would highlight a few I haven't really liked. I was hard to muster these products up because I generally throw things away if I hate them, but if you guys like this kind of review I'll keep things that don't work for the future. These reviews are not trying to tell you that your opinion is wrong, it's just what doesn't work for me and my opinion.

1. Yes To Cucumbers Facial Towelettes

This may be a controversial one, but to start of with I don't like cucumbers, taste or smell, so I'm not sure why I thought this was the right product for me. These aren't soothing at all, if anything they irritate my skin like nothing else, they don't remove makeup well, especially eye makeup. If you like cucumber and have skin that isn't sensitive, these should be fine for you I think. I used these up because I ran out of the Neutrogena Night Calming wipes that I have loved for years.

2. Revlon Photoready Eye Primer + Brightener in 003

I don't have oil eyelids, but I find that if I don't wear an eyeshadow primer then anything that's a powder will crease like crazy. I used this a few times, and found that if anything, it made matters worse. Also, the applicator doesn't seem very hygienic to me.

3. Maybelline Baby Lips Color in Berry Crush

This is quite an old product, but I had issues with all the Baby Lips products, even though I bought most of the flavours and colours. This was my favourite one, which is why I still have it, but the formula always dried my lips out, made them peel and looked generally not great.

4. L'Oreal Infallible Stay Fresh Foundation in 130 True Beige

This one was a massive let down. I got the lightest colour for my skin tone, and it was hard to choose the colour as all the shades seemed too yellow or too pink. I hate makeup transfer and I was excited to see how this one would hold up with the claims it makes, and it's actually the worst foundation I've ever tried when it comes to transfer. If I even lightly brushed my face, it would be all over my hands. The thing that made me stop wearing it, and I wore it for three weeks or so, was the fact that it went really orange. I could try mixing it with some Jackie Oates, but I just think it's a bad foundation that has overrated claims.

5. Barry M Lipstick in 151

I bought this on asos recently, and it just didn't work for me at all. The orange shade didn't suit my skin colour and it looked streaky and sat on my lips weirdly. Perhaps if orange suited your complexion better this could work for you, but for me it was a flop.

There you go guys! I hope you didn't find any of this too negative. I just wanted to show you that my opinions are honest and I come across a lot of products I don't like, and that makes my good reviews even more honest.

February Favourites

Hello there!

It's been a while hasn't it! I'm so sorry guys, going back to school has been a huge drain on my energy, but it's finally a long weekend and I've got some time. I'm sorry that it's a bit late to be writing about my February faves, but I'm sure you won't mind.

1. Rimmel Lasting Finish 25hr Nude in Light Porcelain

I've recently been trying out a few different drugstore foundations that aren't from my beloved Revlon. I think the Rimmel ones are really nice, although I do need to mix in some of my Jackie Oates colour supplement into them to get the right colour for me, a they do tend to be on the quite pink or yellow side. This new Lasting Finish Nude one has to be my favourite so far, it isn't too greasy, it goes on easily, it's not super thick and it has SPF 20 which is always a bonus. It's a nice everyday foundation in my opinion, as it does last quite well compared to other drugstore products.

2. MAC Satin Powder Blush in Fleur Power

I bought this blush a while back, and I've only recently been getting into it and as the weather gets colder, I like to lean towards blush rather than bronzer. I bought this colour because Rhiannon from fashionrocksmysocks used to talk about it a lot, and we have a similar skin tone. I like that it doesn't have shimmer, and that it's a gorgeous soft coral pink.

3. Maybelline Colour Tattoo Metal in Barely Branded

This shade is a lovely metallic nude, with silver toned shimmer. I used to wear this on it's own, and it always creased really badly on me, so I stopped using it for a long time, but I realised that it's much better as an eyeshadow base, and I can't wear eyeshadow without it. It goes on really smoothly, and it goes well with any of the eyeshadows I wear, as I only really go for neutral colours.

4. Revlon Lash Finder Mascara in Waterproof Black Brown

I am one for huge, thick black lashes, but some days I really like a light coat. I was looking for a nice, cheap mascara to test out and I love this one. On days where I wear my L'Oreal mascara, I wear this on my bottom lashes and it separates them so well and doesn't smudge. If you're searching for a more natural lash look, this mascara is for you. The brush is slightly curved on one side and flat on the other.

5. Blistex Intensive Repair Lip Balm

I have been talking medication for my acne, and I've found that my lips are never forever dry and peeling and generally awful. This stuff has been helping quite a bit, it's not a miracle worker, but if your lips are chapped and a bit sore, it's handy, compact and inexpensive, plus it's got SPF 15.

So there you go guys, another monthly favourites! I hope you guys have been having a great couple of weeks, I'm sorry I lost the plot a bit with blogging and that things haven't been as interesting as usual. I'm hopefully going to get a bit more organised in the next couple of weeks and you will be hearing more from me!
